We spend the majority of our days sitting with our hips flexed but don’t spend much time actively training hip flexion. Some of the hip flexor muscles attach directly to the spine; their dysfunction can impact hip and low-back pain and function. This class focuses on developing end-range hip flexion strength and control.
This class may be beneficial for:
Assessment findings:
Limitations in, or compensations with, hip flexion while performing hip CARs
Those who spend a lot of time sitting.
Running, lower-body strength training.
Experience chronic low back pain/discomfort.
Proceed with caution if:
Hip surgery or replacement
Closing angle limitation or “pinch” in front of the hip with hip flexion.*
*This class may be helpful, but it is highly recommended to proceed with caution; start with regressions at low intensities and progress gradually if you feel comfortable doing so. When in doubt, a proper clinical assessment is always recommended.
